Alfred Hair (1941–1970) was an influential American artist and one of the founding members of the Florida Highwaymen, a group of African American landscape artists who gained recognition for their vivid Florida landscapes. Born in Fort Pierce, Florida, Hair demonstrated a passion for art from a young age. Despite facing racial barriers in the art world, he pursued his talent and became known for his distinctive style characterized by vibrant colors and bold brushstrokes.
Hair and his fellow Highwaymen broke away from traditional artistic channels by selling their artwork directly to the public, often from the trunks of their cars along Florida's highways.
